Hands of Bresson

April 18, 2018

In my round-up of favourite films from last year I made a passing remark about the importance of hands in Bresson’s films. I’ve found a Criterion Collection short illustrating the point:

The video is by Kogonada, whose feature-film debut, Columbus, I recently saw and greatly enjoyed.

I’ve been waiting for ‘Columbus’ to appear on DVD, but so far no luck. A favorite group of mine, Hammock, did the soundtrack — it was on their website that I found out about the film.

It’s a nice little film. Kogonada is a good director whom I’d be interested to see more from. The influence of Ozu is all over Columbus.
