Sitting down with Van Morrison

Earlier this month Van Morrison stopped in Toronto to do one of his “Astral Weeks” concerts.  While he was here, he sat down with CBC Radio’s Jian Ghomeshi for an hour-long interview.  Those who follow Van’s career know how rare these interviews are: they are rarer than a June snowstorm.  He makes a fascinating interview subject: combative, repetitive, paranoid, vulnerable, earnest.  For a summary of the interview, pull out your recording of Hymns to the Silence and listen to “Professional Jealousy”.  If it’s not handy, here is the interview itself:
