For shame. The second birthday of The Hebdomadal Chesterton came and went on February 3, and even I, its closest friend in this cruel world, forgot to mark the occasion. Apologies have been made, and bruised egos salved, and now I can do a little something to make amends.
The site is doing pretty well, despite its not appearing in the top search results for people googling “Chesterton” (it is the 100th page returned). Whoever named it didn’t do it any favours. Basically, the only people who find it are specifically looking for it. But even so, it gets its fair share of readers.
The three most popular posts from the past year were:
- “The immortal power of astonishment and laughter”, from The Illustrated London News. Posted 3 December 2008.
- “In a lower form”, from Where All Roads Lead. Posted 10 September 2008.
- “Discuss in the dark”, from Heretics. Posted 13 February 2008.
I don’t think I’d choose those three as my favourites, but, as they say, never argue with the customer.
Happy birthday!
